Rafez Alam Chowdhury

BIO Mr. Rafez Alam Chowdhury is the Chairman of Gunee Bangladesh Limited. With this background in engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), he brings over 35 years of leadership experience across the private sector, having served as Managing Director of Convince Apparels Ltd., Convince Zipper & Accessories Ltd., Convince Dyeing Ind. Ltd., and Convince Computer Ltd. He was President and Adviser to the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) during 2010–2015 and has held leadership roles including Former President of Gulshan Youth Club Ltd., Former President of BUET '88, and Secretary General of the Old Cadet College Club (OCCC).

BIO Lila Rashid, PhD is a retired Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, where she played a key role in microfinance policy development and helped establish the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA). She also led the Payment Systems and SME Departments within Bangladesh Bank. After retirement, she worked as the National Financial Inclusion Specialist for the ADB CARES Project and for the GGiFI study funded by the Gates Foundation. She currently serves as an Independent Director on the BRAC Bank Board and as a Governing Body Member of the Palli Karma Shahayak Foundation (PKSF). Dr. Rashid holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India; an MBA from the University of New Orleans, USA; and a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was awarded the ‘Gold Medal’ from Bangladesh Bank, and has authored two books titled Microfinance Regulations for Development: Global Experiences and Institutionalising Microfinance in Bangladesh: Players, Games and Outcomes.

BIO Ayesha Banu, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from Dhaka University and an MA in Gender and Development from IDS, Sussex, United Kingdom; as a Commonwealth Scholar. Her PhD focused on the women’s movement in Bangladesh. Her areas of interest include feminism, gender and development, diversity, inclusion and poverty. She co-authored the book, Gendered Lives, Livelihood and Transformation: The Bangladesh Context (2017).

Rashik Alam Chowdhury

BIO Rashik Alam Chowdhury currently serves as the Executive Director of Convince Group and Executive Director of Tamishna Group, alongside leading biotechnology innovations as the Chief Executive Officer within Aquanimity Bangladesh Limited. His prior experience includes his internship roles at the United Nations Development Programme, bKash Limited, and Bangladesh Bank. Rashik holds a BSc in Economics from City, University of London and an MSc in Economics from University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. His professional background spans business, financial services, fintech, economic research, and strategic corporate leadership. In his current roles, he oversees all stages of company development and decision-making, leveraging a multidisciplinary background that integrates business, finance, and technology to drive growth and innovation.

BIO Qurratul-Ain-Tahmina is a journalist, trainer, teacher, researcher, and media advocacy and policy developer. 1987 onwards, she worked for the weekly Dhaka Courier, BBC Bengali Service, Inter Press Service (IPS) and The Daily Prothom Alo, where she continues as a contributing trainer-mentor, reporter and column writer. She is also a freelance trainer of journalists and a researcher on sex-workers, creative initiatives of the common people, different issues in the context of media or journalism including ethics, journalism basics, regulations, self-regulation, gender, children and marginalised communities. She has experiences in media content analysis and development of media advocacy, policies and guidelines. A former lecturer of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh; she continues there as an occasional adjunct faculty. Her publications include Sex-Workers in Bangladesh/Livelihood at What Price?; Chorcha Korun Khobor Likhun; Gender Equality and Media Regulation Study Bangladesh; Women and Hijras in Bangladeshi News Media; Sangbadikotar Neeti-Noyitikotar Digonte Gender / Poth Khnojar Nirdeshika.

BIO Proficient in mixed -methods analysis, nVivo, and STATA, Arif has served as a Research Assistant at the GGiFI Project funded by the Gates Foundation, where he has contributed towards the design and execution of research tools – including key informant interviews (KIIs), focus group discussions (FGDs), and in-depth interviews (IDIs), and bridging rigorous qualitative research with actionable policy insights, to contribute in authoring policy literature and qualitative research finding chapters within the final reports submitted. Arif has previously worked at JP Morgan as an Investment Banking Analyst within the Mergers and Acquisitions division. He holds a BSc and MSci in Medicinal Chemistry from University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. His interdisciplinary expertise spans development, finance, and innovation, with a focus on the intersections of gender, economics, and health. In parallel, he has also led innovations in the biotechnology sector as well through his leadership role at Aquanimity Bangladesh Limited.
